MAP have launched this new reel that features an ACS (Auto Clip System) – a development that allows the clip to automatically disengage should a big fish be hooked.
That means you can fish safely ‘clipped-up’ for casting accuracy, safe in the knowledge that an aggressive bite will not leave you scrambling to release the line for fear of snapping off.

New MAP ACS 4000 Reel
Angling Times reviewed this new line clip reel from MAP on 15th Sep 2009 and are billing it as the biggest development in reel design for over a decade. It reads as follows:
MAP has launched a new reel that features an ACS (Auto Clip System) – a development that allows the clip to automatically disengage should a big fish be hooked. That means you can fish safely ‘clipped-up’ for casting accuracy, safe in the knowledge that an aggressive bite will not leave you scrambling to release the line for fear of snapping off. That makes ACS both fish and angler-friendly!
MAP brand manager Mike Robinson told Angling Times: “Reels are a very difficult area of fishing tackle to innovate and improve on because what can you actually do that will ultimately advance them?“ Well, I think we have now managed to break new ground and the innovation is a system that will benefit many different kinds of angler, from match, to specimen, to pleasure. ”This latest technology will be found on the new MAP ACS freespool-style reel, although it is expected that the ACS system will quickly filter through to other models.
The new MAP free-spool reel with the ACS 4000 clip system has a powerful worm shaft drive, anti-twist line roller, smooth line lay and a double handle for added balance.
It will be in soon with an expected retail price of £69.99, with spare spools costing £9.99.

NEW AWESOME MAVER SUPERCELL CLOTHING
Ideally suited for all year round use, being light but still offers plenty of warmth and protection, for those cold winter months. This is due to the newly developed state of the art, “Therma Hide” fabric that it is made from. It has a soft touch outer membrane that is both waterproof to 5,000mm and breathable to 5,00mm.
The bib & brace have elasticated shoulder straps and a high back which stops any cold winds getting through.
The jacket has a high collar and a detachable drawstring hood. All the seams are fully taped and the jacket also has micro fibre neoprene storm cuffs. Zips are chunky waterproof YKK.
If you are after a hi-tech smart, comfortable, fully waterproof, breathable and windproof jacket or bib & brace, then look no further.

Fox MSB Box Tried and Tested!
Fox MSB System Box Review
After more than two years of development the hotly anticipated Fox Match MSB (Modular System Seat box) has arrived.
Fox Match brand manager Mark Pollard has had a massive influence in the finished system and believes it’s the most advanced seat box ever. On first impressions alone it certainly looks the part and a great deal of attention has definitely gone into it.
I particularly like the compact, mid-frame design that makes it light and easy to transport, compared to many bulkier systems you don’t need a bigger car to get it in! The modular tray and magnetic drawer system is excellent and offers the angler plenty of scope for customization.
Additional accessories are available for the system. Trays, draws deep and shallow mean you can choose what you sit on, partitioned winder trays, which fit Fox winders and accessories perfectly are also available. The quick-release, self-locking footplate is also very clever and we especially like the non-slip material.
Whether you think they’re a gimmick or not, spirit levels are becoming more prevalent on top-of-the-range boxes these days, and the MSB boasts four of them in convenient areas to ensure you are sitting completely level! This is essential when handling long poles. Which we seem to be doing this a lot more of the time nowadays.
The seat is comfy, and even the removable padded strap is well considered. The system uses telescopic, non-marking square legs and is very stable. A nice touch is that the thumbwheels have special springs to stop them working loose.
There are currently two boxes available. The all-singing, all-dancing version is the MSB1 which costs £449.99 and boasts a footplate, deep base, deep drawer, shallow drawer and a winder drawer

Verdict: Excellently designed and well worth the wait. All of the ‘little’ things on the box makes this one of the complete packages I have seen. I must like it I’ve got one myself!!

Stocking Fillers!! Sensas Easy Loop Tyer
Sensas Easy Loop Tyer
This little ingenious piece of equipment is ideal for anglers who struggle with tying knots and/or when the weather is cold and you can’t feel your fingers!
Coming in two sizes for different sized loops this is an excellent bit of kit and an ideal stocking filler!
Instructions do come with the loop tyers but here’s my guide;
1/ make a loop at the end of the line and hold it between your thumb and 1st finger. Pass the head of the looper behind the two strands of line and bring it back towards yourself.
2/ turn the tool to make the desired number of turns in the line,
2 turns for .05 -.10
3 turns for .11 -.20
4 turns for .21 plus
3/ Bring the formed loop around your index finger back around the main hook of the looper.
4/ tighten by pulling on the strands of line.
5/ remove the head of the tool by pivoting it back. A small is perfectly formed on the end of the line with a maximum strength knot.

We’ve already sold hundreds of these little gems, banding pellets has never been easier!!
The band‘a’bait is by far and away the easiest way to put a band around a pellet and for any other bait for that matter with ease. Compact and easy to use these have been a success story for Mosella. It allows the angler to band pellets from 3mm to 12 mm, with no fuss. Supplied with 30 heavy duty bands this tool will band all pellets within 3mm – 12mm the four prong opening the band whilst hold the pellet in place this is a must have for the commercial angler. The band‘a’bait comes supplied with 30 assorted bait bands from micro bands to 8mm this will cover all eventualities.

Going hand in hand with the band’a’bait are the Mosella F1 micro bands made from high quality latex, you can now band a 3mm pellets with ease and used in conjunction with the band’a’bait these will definitely speed up your fishing as well as making your presentation better. The smallest pellet does not look out of place on this band. However put a bigger pellet in the band and it is awesome, it’s possible to catch numerous fish on a single pellet which saves an inordinate amount of time in as match.

Both of these products are essential not for only the commercial angler but for anglers on rivers fishing with hard baits, these items make banding a whole lot easier and I cannot recommend them highly enough!
